In cooperation with Reps. Ted Poe and John Costa, Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus for Victims’ Rights, Shared Hope invites you to attend a special event releasing the 2017 Protected Innocence Challenge state grades and recognizing federal leadership that drives state action across the nation. Remarks will be made by Rep. Ted Poe and Rep. Chris Smith, other invited Members of Congress, former Congresswoman and Shared Hope International founder Linda Smith, and survivor leader Toni McKinley of the Refuge for DMST in Austin, Texas. A virtual panel of survivors of child sex trafficking will discuss the impact legislation has had in each of their cases and in cases of victims whom they now assist.
Shared Hope is working in every state to end child sex trafficking through state legislative development. When Shared Hope started the Protected Innocence Challenge in 2011, 26 states received Fs and 15 had Ds. In 2016, 30 states had As and Bs.
