On behalf of the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), you are invited to attend a congressional briefing on "Getting Started: First Homes Built with National Housing Trust Fund Awards" on Monday, October 29 from 11:00am to 12:00pm in the Congressional Visitor Center Room SVC 201.
The national Housing Trust Fund (HTF) is the first new housing resource since 1974 targeted to building, rehabilitating, preserving, and operating rental housing for extremely low income people. Durnig the briefing, speakers will share how the intial HTF funding has impacted local communities and reduced the shortage of homes affordable and availabe to extermely low income renter households.
NLIHC released Getting Started as an interim report summarizing key features of the approximately 1,500 rental homes being created by 42 states with their inaugural national Housing Trust Fund (HTF) allocations. States are primarily targeting this new resource for rental homes affordable to extremely low income households who are homeless, have a disability, or are elderly. Speakers will share successes of specific projects across the country.
