Breakfast Briefing: Directed Energy 101

  • 1629 Longworth House Office Building (map)

By now you should have received an invitation to a briefing this Friday, November 30th, at 8:00 AM in 1629 Longworth HOB with analysts from the Directed Energy Professional Society and Booz Allen Hamilton to discuss the fundamentals of directed energy technologies. As co-chairs of the Directed Energy Caucus, we encourage you and your staff to attend this timely briefing - no physics degree required!

Directed energy programs offer low-cost, deep-magazine, complementary solutions to protect the homeland and our allies. They allow for faster engagement times and the capability to counter radically maneuvering missiles and to conduct precision engagements. They can also be scaled for use in graduated responses, ranging from detecting and monitoring targets to causing disabling damage. This briefing will provide a high-level overview of the maturing state of DE technology, the threats that it can uniquely address, and the progress being made by DoD and the Services in developing systems with military utility.

Event details are below. Space is limited so please RSVP to Leigh Maiden (leigh.maiden@mail.house.gov) if you or your defense staffer would like to attend. Breakfast will be provided.
