For A Luncheon Briefing On
Legal, Regulatory Considerations for Cannabidiol (CBD): Current and Future

There has been a surge in consumer demand for cannabidiol (CBD), a naturally occurring and non-psychoactive constituent of industrial hemp. Emerging science on the benefits of CBD combined with rapidly changing public perceptions and state laws pertaining to hemp, et al., are driving rapid growth for CBD products. However, the CBD legal and regulatory landscape continues to evolve as states pass new laws, and FDA and DEA—federal agencies that still classify CBD as a controlled substance—grapple with a nationwide paradigm shift. This briefing will provide an overview of the current status of CBD, including consumer and market data, state of science, barriers to CBD marketing, and potential legal and regulatory changes.
