This program is intended for Hill staffers whose portfolio may include trade.
Young Trade Professionals (YTP) will host a “Trade on the Hill” session on April 20th, on the topic of trade enforcement. The Trump Administration promised a reset in U.S. trade policy, making the reduction of bilateral trade deficits a core priority. It has revived little-used U.S. trade laws: a Section 232 investigation on steel and aluminum to restrict imports with national security considerations and a Section 301 investigation on Chinese intellectual property theft. The Administration also started off 2018 by enacting sweeping Section 201 tariffs on solar panels and washing machines. As the Administration shifts U.S. trade policy to focus on enforcement, join YTP to learn about the full panoply of trade policy cases that will be in focus for Congress.
From 201s to 232s, our speakers will dive into the trade tariffs in place and into the investigations underway, and explore the role of Congress in trade enforcement:
President, Alliance for American Manufacturing
Director of International Trade Policy, Toyota North America
Partner, Husch Blackwell
