Dr. S.Y, Quraishi is the former Chief Election Commissioner of India with the full responsibility of planning, organizing and certifying all National and State elections in India.
Dr. Quraishi was an officer of the Indian Administrative Service before he became the 17th Chief Election Commissioner of India 2010 -12. During his tenure as Chief Election Commissioner of the Union of India, he introduced some innovative electoral reforms. He figured in The Indian Express list of 100 Most Powerful Indians of 2011 and 2012.
He is on the Board of Advisors of the Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance, Stockholm; a member of the Advisory Committee for Global Commission on Elections, Democracy, and Security, headed by Mr. Kofi Annan (2010-12) and was later appointed as ‘Global Ambassador of Democracy,’ along with Kofi Annan. He has authored three books.

Dr. S.Y. Quraishi is the 17th Chief Election Commissioner appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to serve from 2010 to 2012. The man who was responsible for such a massive undertaking is speaking at the Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018, and New York, on Monday, May 14, 2018.
