  • 2253 Rayburn House Office Building (map)

Dear Colleague:

Trade relations between the U.S. and Canada have taken center stage this year. And after recent events, Prime Minister Trudeau has made clear that Canada “will not be pushed around.” With so many factors at play— Section 232 tariffs, NAFTA, Softwood Lumber
Agreement— many are wondering: will Canada retaliate against U.S. mills?

The last U.S.—Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement (SLA) officially expired in October 2015. Despite on-going efforts to reach a new deal, negotiators have been unable to secure an agreement, forcing the U.S. to proceed with their trade case against Canadian

We invite you to a briefing next week with industry representatives who will answer the most pressing questions for the future of the U.S. softwood lumber industry:

  • What are the prospects for getting a new agreement?
  • What are the new duties on softwood lumber imports and why are they needed?
  • What will Canada do next?

We hope you will join us for this informative event on Wednesday, June 27th at 2:00 PM in 2253 Rayburn
