Solar Panel Technology Demo Day
Thursday July 19, 2018
10:30am – 12:00pm
2456 Rayburn

Dear Colleague:

We invite you and your staff to join us at the technology demonstration day with Ascent Solar from Thornton, Colorado. Ascent Solar designs, develops, and manufactures solar technology and power solutions for remote locations and extreme environments. It does so by using flexible, thin-film materials. This enables the use of solar power in many existing and emerging defense, consumer electronic, space, and aerospace applications.

Ascent Solar is one of the few remaining US-based solar manufacturers specializing in thin-film solutions. Ascent Solar’s products are on a flexible plastic base, which provides for an extremely lightweight and rugged capability, and provide mission-critical solutions for unique markets, such as space, aerospace, defense and public sector, and emergency services.

Ascent Solar will provide hands-on demonstrations of some of its XD-12 and XD-48 solar chargers – to include how they can operate even after being shot, cut, stepped-on, and dropped. These attributes make Ascent Solar’s power solutions ideal to meet many Department of Defense, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other agency requirements for mobile and remote operations.  Ascent Solar will also provide examples of some of its technology that is headed to the Space station this fall (MISSE 10) and on the wings of solar powered drones. In this exciting new sphere of solar applications, Ascent Solar is leading the way in revolutionary efficiency and accessibility. They are also bringing products used in the industrial world, and a variety of IoT sensors to help improve the quality of life in both personal and professional applications.

Please stop by the event to learn more about these technologies and their broad applications to provide power needs off the grid. If you have questions, please contact Jeff O’Neil in Rep. Perlmutter’s office at jeff.oneil@mail.house.gov or Katharine Denby in Rep. Coffman’s office at Katharine.denby@mail.house.gov
