The reception showcases the work of 21 early-stage vision scientists from across the United States who will display posters and discuss their breakthrough research to save sight and restore vision. The event, made possible by a grant from Research to Prevent Blindness, focuses on answering the question, “How will this research delay or prevent the $717 billion annual cost of eye disease and vision impairment projected by year 2050?” The reception also recognizes the 25th Anniversary of AEVR, the educational foundation serving as the privately funded “Friends of the National Eye Institute (NEI)” within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
