The staff of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission would like to bring to your attention the opportunity to meet with Samson Salamat, a leading Pakistani human rights activist from the country’s Christian community. Mr. Salamat is the founding Director of the Pakistan-based Centre for Human Rights Education, an organization working to strengthen human rights through educational programs, advocacy and awareness initiatives. He is also the Chairman of Rwadari Tehreek, a nation-wide social movement initiated in early 2015 to strengthen pluralism in Pakistan and combat prejudice, extremism and terrorism.

Mr. Salamat will discuss the challenges for civil society and human rights defenders in Pakistan and how the Centre for Human Rights Education is responding. Mr. Salamat’s visit to Washington, DC is facilitated by the National Endowment for Democracy.
