This session will provide an overview of macro fiscal issues that put downward pressure on the appropriations process and affect the availability of discretionary funding for public health programs and health research. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with budget wonks who will review issues related the deficit and debt, sequestration, the Budget Control Act of 2011, and the various bipartisan budget deals to raise the spending caps—and what the advocacy community is doing to raise them again.
