As incoming co-chairs of the Congressional Submarine Caucus, we want to bring your attention to an invitation you have received from the Submarine Industrial Base Council to attend their annual Congressional breakfast, taking place on Wednesday, February 27, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Russell Senate Office Building, Kennedy Caucus Room (SR-325).
The Submarine Industrial Base Council represents more than 5,000 companies in all 50 states that employ a highly specialized and skilled workforce to design, build and support our nation’s submarines. Last year, more than 350 submarine suppliers from across the country attended to discuss the vital national security mission of submarines and the economic benefits that the submarine industrial base brings to our local communities. The Submarine Industrial Base Council anticipates an even greater turnout this year.
As you know, submarines provide the critical stealth, mobility, endurance and firepower necessary to enable the United States to dominate the undersea domain in the 21st century and beyond. The demand for our nation’s undersea forces has never been greater as other countries continue to expand their navies while simultaneously deploying new sophisticated defensive systems on their shores. Our nation’s highly skilled shipbuilders and supplier base are delivering advanced attack submarines on schedule and on budget. It is more important than ever to maintain a robust U.S. submarine program and a strong submarine industrial base.
We hope that you will join us on February 27th to show your support for the men and women who design and build these ships. To R.S.V.P., please contact the SIBC at 202-207-3650 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you or members of your staff are not available to attend the breakfast, we hope that you will take the opportunity to meet with submarine suppliers from your district as they schedule office visits later that day.
