National Council on Independent Living Briefing and Reception

  • 325 Russell Senate Office Building (map)

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) hopes that you will be able to join us at our annual Congressional Briefing & Reception on the State of Disability in America. The briefing will take place on Thursday, February 28 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Caucus Room (Russell Senate Office Building, Room 325).

With more at stake than ever in 2019, NCIL members want to ensure that our elected officials understand the issues that are most important to our community. NCIL was proud to host an incredibly successful event in 2018, and we invite you to start off 2019 with us in the same spirit of progress.

Our NCIL Briefings are engaging and informative events, and each year they are well attended by leaders in the disability community, Members and staff of both parties in Congress, and representatives of the Administration. This year’s event will include a short presentation on the state of the Independent Living Program in America, brief remarks by members of the NCIL Board of Directors, and remarks by Members of the U.S. House and Senate. Last year’s speakers included disability rights champions and allies in Congress including Representative Beyer, Representative Sanford Bishop, Senator Hasson, and Representative Langevin.

We are looking forward to another exciting event this year! We would like to thank Anthem for their continued support, and thank you to Senator Casey for sponsoring the room for this event. If you plan to attend, please RSVP at the link below or to our Policy Analyst, Lindsay Baran, at lindsay@ncil.org by Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
