Negative Emissions Technologies: Sucking Carbon Out of the Air

  • 121 Cannon House Office Building (map)

Sustained innovation in energy technologies is necessary to avert the worst consequences of climate change, better serve the diverse demands of the American public and enhance U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. The federal government plays a key role in fostering innovation and encouraging clean energy entrepreneurship and investment.

Scientists and policymakers are increasingly coming to view Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) as an essential but overlooked part of addressing climate change. The recent IPCC Special Report included some amount of CDR in all pathways consistent with 1.5 C of warming. Join us for an informal discussion of the innovation opportunities and the federal role to advance CDR in the United States, with a focus on issues currently before the 116th Congress.

Lunch will be available during the event.
