2019 Burn Pits Congressional Briefing
Hosted by:
Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX)
Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-CA)

Numerous military bases in the Operations Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring Freedom (OEF) theatres of operation produced several tons to several hundred tons of solid waste per day. Open-air burn pits were the primary waste disposal method during the majority of the duration of these wars. Air sampling data indicate that smoke from these burn pits contained chemicals associated with respiratory conditions and cancers that have left thousands of veterans with disabilities that originate from their exposure to the noxious fumes. During this event the following speakers will address the issues that have manifested from burn pit exposure:

Kerry Baker – CCK Law

Susan Burke – Lead MDL Counsel on KBR Burn Pit MDL

Dr. Robert Miller – Vanderbilt University

Dr. Anthony Szema – Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell

Dr. Carol Henricks – Founder of NorthStar Hyperbaric Facility

Dr. Steven Coughlin – Epidemiologist & Clinical Researcher

Please join us for our briefing on this important issue. Lunch will be served at noon. Admission is free, register here.
