Join the Blue Collar for a Briefing
Co-hosted by: AFL-CIO, Economic Policy Institute, Teamsters, United Autoworkers, United Steelworkers
2pm Tuesday, April 30
Unions mean more power for workers to bargain for better wages, retirement security, workplace safety enhancements, affordable health care and more reasonable and predictable hours. However, far too often, workers face obstacles when they fight for a voice in the workplace. Many employers resort to subtle and drastic actions to keep workers from forming a union. Join us for a discussion about what happens in an organizing campaign, what elements are negotiated between workers and employers during the collective bargaining process, and what Congress can do to strengthen labor laws. In order to advocate for workers, we must understand the obstacles they face.
Josh Nassar, UAW Legislative Director, Moderator
Elise Gould, Senior Economist, Economic Policy Institute
Maria Somma, Organizing Director, United Steelworkers
Jose Ramirez, Teamsters, freight driver and local organizer, Aurora, IL
Kyle DeCant, Education and Labor Committee
