Building an Infrastructure Workforce

  • G50 Dirksen Senate Office Building (map)

I hope you're able to join National Skills Coalition and National League of Cities on Tuesday, May 14th at 2pm in SD-50G for a briefing on building an infrastructure workforce, in honor of infrastructure week.

Investments in U.S. infrastructure could strengthen our economic competitiveness and enhance public safety. They could also provide millions of new jobs for Americans who are currently out of work, underemployed, or seeking higher wages. Taking full advantage of this potential job creation will require not just investing in our physical capital, but also investing in our human capital—making sure workers have updated skills for these jobs.

This briefing will highlight how employers, cities and other stakeholders are partnering to develop workforce pipelines in infrastructure sectors, and explore how federal policy can support these innovative strategies.

 Panelists include:

  • Emma Brennan, WANTO Technical Assistant Project Manager, Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO (DC)

  • Andy Coulouris, Federal Affairs Director, DTE Energy (MI)

  • Madeline Iseli, Senior Vice President of Advancement, Sinclair Community College (OH)

  • Victoria Johnson, Workforce Consultant, Jacobs Engineering (GA)

  • Sean Polster, Councilmember, Warrenton, VA and NLC Board Member (VA)
