The HALO Trust
in cooperation with the Congressional UXO/Demining and Armenia Issues Caucuses
invites you to a reception commemorating 25 years since the ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The event will include remarks by H.E. Mr. Varuzhan Nersesyan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia and a display of photos taken by famous Armenian-American photographer, Scout Tufankjian, who documented HALO's demining activity in Nagorno Karabakh.
The Nagorno Karabakh Conflict began in 1988 and escalated into war between 1992 and 1994, when the ceasefire was eventually signed. The US is actively assisting in negotiations to this frozen conflict through its role as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, and has helped mitigate the impact of the conflict by providing humanitarian aid to the region. HALO Trust has been clearing mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) from Nagorno Karabakh since 2001, helping to remove the dangerous legacy of this conflict.
