The Future of Non-Lethal Technology

  • CVC-217, Capitol Visitor Center (map)

I would like to personally invite members and staff to a discussion with Rick Smith CEO and Founder, of Axon (formally TASER International), about how we can use technology to change how we think about weapons and violence.

Rick will be sharing thoughts for members and their staff on how technology can help solve some of the world's greatest problems. We will look at the  U.S. Department of Defense Non-Lethal Weapons Program and several pieces of body camera and national security legislation. The discussion will focus on how government can use technology to change how we think about weapons, violence and transparency.

Like so many political issues, the debate over guns has unfortunately hit a stalemate. Every year brings a new school shooting or controversy over an officer-involved shooting. We get angry at each other, shout at each other, and then everyone just moves on, frustrated that nothing can be done. Rick will attempt to illustrate something that can be done: that we can use technology to change how we think about weapons and violence.
