The Special Operations Forces (SOF) Caucus, in coordination with the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Office of Legislative Affairs (SOLA), is hosting an introductory lunch briefing on SOCOM and its FY 2020 budget request with the SOLA director and legislative liaisons.
We rely heavily on our special operators to be an essential part of our national security strategy. There are only about 69,000 of them, who are deployed around the world. They carry out diverse, complicated and often secret missions central to the defense of the nation, including unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, counter-terrorism and much more. This briefing will provide new and seasoned staffers alike a better understanding of what these silent warriors and unsung heroes do to keep our homeland safe. They will continue to shoulder many of the Defense Department’s missions. It is incumbent on the U. S. Congress to ensure they are properly resourced, have the necessary facilities to train, and their mission stresses are kept to a minimum.
Come learn more about our special operators Friday, May 3rd from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in 2322 Rayburn. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Elizabeth Brown at Elizabeth.Brown@mail.house.gov.
