Staff and interns are invited to attend a briefing to learn about the telecommunications challenges faced by disaster survivors.
Natural disasters destroy homes and devastate communities across our Nation. Sadly, the rebuilding process can take months or even years. When homes are destroyed, landline phone service may need to be disconnected. If a phone is disconnected for an extended period, the service provider is required to return the phone number to a pool for potential reassignment to other customers – that’s why carriers agree this legislation is needed. With so many difficult issues to confront after a natural disaster, the last thing survivors should have to worry about is losing their phone number.
Please join us on Monday, June 10 from 10:00-11:00AM in 121 Cannon House Office Building to hear from a panel of experts who will speak to policy solutions and share stories of how disasters have impacted our constituents.
